I finally received the DVD taped at Renaissance Center and it was well worth waiting for. Tanya looked gorgeous and her singing and dancing were magnificent. It was great to hear her sing songs that she hasn't sung for years. Any one starting out in the music business should see one of Tanya's concerts so they could see how to entertain like a professional. A lot of people can perform, but very few can entertain like Tanya. She can captivate an audience of any age group. Tanya has a style all her own and no one will ever be able to copy it, some have tried over the years, but it never worked out. She sings with such feeling that she can make you believe every word she sings. Some of these newcomers can't make the audience feel anything but the urge to get the show over so they can leave. Tanya should do more videos so her fans that can't go to her concerts can see what a great entertainer she is. The interview was the best I have ever seen , because Tanya was able to talk without any interruptions. Most of the time when she is interviewed she never gets to finish a sentence. The color and sound in this DVD was great and showed how beautiful Tanya is and how great her voice is. I really enjoyed it and now I'm waiting for the new CD to be finished, I'm sure it will also be great. Kathy Goss |
OK Guys it goes like
this......5.20pm Christine rings me at work "What time will you be home for
dinner" SOON says I, just finishing off a few e-mails...well it's come says she,
OK I'm leaving now says I, so off I shoot. Sure enough when I arrive home the
package is on the table. Because I am selfless kind o' guy I let Christine open
the package and out she falls. Well we can't watch it till we are settled for
the night can we, so out comes the meal. Next thing that happens is that I open
the vinegar bottle, but inadvertently I completely unscrew the top and poured
the vinegar all over my steak. Settle down says Chris she will still be waiting
for you when you have finished eating..….and she was.
I had bought some wine on my way home so we could settle down and enjoy and did
we enjoy??
You bet your life we did, and you know what guys...it was twelve months to the
day since we saw her live on the Texas Cruise Jam (in fact almost to the hour).
To put into perspective I have the Church Street and Billy Bobs concerts on DVD
and have a couple or three live concerts on CD but let me tell you this...This
new Renaissance Concert must be the absolute best. What we witnessed tonight was
a Legend, a Diva, plying her talent to an appreciative spellbound audience. I am
so proud to be a T.T. fan but I have learned one thing tonight, I am not her
biggest fan, in Tanya's own words Beau was that and I can't argue with that, can
any of you?
OK lets start, out she comes and boy she sure got the heart pounding, looked really well in the black and red Manuel outfit, straight into "Old Weakness" not having seen her perform the song before you tend to listen to it differently, if that makes sense. I stayed away from keeping the box near to me otherwise I would have known which song was coming next and I thought that would spoil the enjoyment. She did not talk much between songs, she showed her appreciation and then hit the next song, no doubt in the live recording session she did interact more with the audience, and from memory I think Mark said it lasted around three hours, must have been the best 3 hours ever. "If Your Heart Ain't Busy Tonight" and "Little Things" seem to crop up fairly regular in shows as does "Don't Believe My Heart Can Stand Another You" but the delivery was pristine. Tanya sang all these songs as per record no banter with the fans just honest talent delivering the product just like Beau told her to with feeling. Goose bumps next with "Here's Some Love" vintage Tanya the era I love. One of my all time favourites came with "Spring", she sang it all the way through, I have only heard her sing segments of it live before and I got to tell you guys the delivery was awesome. Then the tear jerker...well for me anyways, she spoke about Beau, about him just passing away and how she was singing it for him and hoped she could get through it She did I didn't, "Daddy and Home" You guys have seen her many times in concert and you are so lucky. The set that she performs on the DVD is definitely the best one I have heard it spans her whole career and she got the job done. The show seemed to be over before we had got settled... it just stopped after "My Arms Stay Open All Night" but.......surprise surprise there are three bonus tracks on the DVD, these are not part of the concert I don’t know where they were recorded. "I Don't Want To Be Just Another Love" "You Got Me To Hold On To" and "One Love At A Time" all fantastic and sang with the same deep feeling as the rest but I gotta tell you "You Got Me" another old one was inspirational. She laughed and said 'this is gonna hurt' before she started but she pulled it off, laughed at the end and said she had not sang that for years - not that you would have ever known....could just be the song of the DVD for me. Sorry to go on guys I have probably bored you but I have to go anyways now, I hear she is going to repeat the performance in 5 mins so I don't want to be late. Oh yes, there is an interview section where she says something about each song and a picture library too.
