Well, Tanya Tucker sure stole all of Superman's thunder during her concert in Superman's Home Town of Metropolis, IL on Saturday, Oct 13th at Harrah's Casino!  She put on a show that even Superman couldn't have topped!!!

Natalie and I didn't have tickets to the show because we didn't realize we were going til the last minute.  Since I had to stay in Nashville til Tuesday the 16th for a follow up visit with the Ortho Surgeon, we decided to take the risk that we would be able to get some tickets once we got there.  (The show had been sold out for over a month.  The auditorium holds 1250 people and the casino overbooked the concert and sold 1350 tickets).  We figured our chance of getting tickets was slim to none!

We rode to Metropolis with Bobbie and Lisa, two other long time TT fans that also offered to let us "flop" in their motel room since everything else was already booked up.  We left Nashville around 8 pm and got to Metropolis about 11 pm, checked into the motel and got settled in.  The we headed over to the casino to play some slots, have a couple of drinks and hopefully run into Tanya somewhere in the casino.  Since it was Lisa's birthday, we all toasted her birthday!!!  All we did was lose our money and Bobbie and I stayed til 4 a.m. We did not see Tanya Friday night, but did see her bus there.  The desk clerk at our hotel said Tanya had been visiting some friends at our hotel.

We had to get up early Saturday morning to be checked out of our room by 12:30.  Have you ever seen four women trying to get dressed, do their make-up and hair all at the same time in the same bathroom??  Trust me, it wasn't pretty!!!  LMAO!

So Natalie and I set out first thing Saturday morning on a mission to find some tickets.  After several hours we finally got them!!!  Yeee Hawwwwwwwww!  We got tickets on the 9th row back from the center stage - not bad for a last minute deal!

We ran into Linda and her friend Trudi, then met Ralph in the hallway of the casino and we all decided to meet up before and/or after the show. (Check out the photos). Ralph had his family with him and his son, who wasn't old enough to attend the concert, poor guy!  Ralph said since his wife went to the last Tanya concert with him, he was taking his mother-in-law to this one.  (So what did she think of it Ralph?)  All you women out there, Ralph is one good lookin' man....LMAO... but don't get any ideas, his wife is a doll!!!

While I was hunting for tickets, this lady came up to talk to me about Tanya.  She then proceeded to tell me her name, and that Tanya had written to her husband the entire nine months he was in Desert Storm and that this was the first concert of hers that he had been able to attend since he got home and she was trying to let Tanya know that he was there.  I promised her that if I saw anyone in Tanya's entourage before the show, I would be sure and try to get the word to her.  Unfortunately I didn't see anyone and I don't know if Tanya ever found out about it or not, but I sure hope she did!!

Isn't that absolutely wonderful that Tanya wrote the guy for nine months while he was fighting in Desert Storm??  You know, the media ALWAYS picks up on all the stuff that happens to Tanya, but why is it we never hear anything about all the WONDERFUL things she does???  And even SHE doesn't go around talking about them!  Tanya's one "special" lady in my book!!!  And I'm quite sure that guy was in "hog heaven" during that show!!!  If you're out there, feel free to post on the message board or send an email!!!

Let's see, we also ran into Jim and Virginia and several other TT fans.  They were absolutely hilarious.  Natalie and I piled into a 2 seater truck with two of them and went to Cracker Barrel for a late brunch/lunch!  We had a ball.

I have absolutely LOVED every singe TT concert I have ever been to.  Each one of them has been different, and this one was BY FAR one of the BEST!!!  Maybe because they had a bar set-up outside in the hallway and I was able to indulge in several margarita's before, during and after the show! (OK, maybe more than a few, LMAO! - btw, thanks for the drink Ralph!)

And surprise - NOBODY was on Tuckertime!!!  The show was supposed to start at 8 pm, the band played a few minutes and out came the TEXAS TORNADO doing "Some Kind of Trouble" at 8:15!!  She looked absolutely GORGEOUS!!  And, YES, she was "struttin' her stuff" like only Tanya Tucker can do!!!  She told the audience she was a little hoarse - maybe cause she hadn't performed in awhile, or maybe cause she sang and talked too much at her birthday party the previous Wednesday.  Then she told the boys in the band to take everything down a few notches -- but she sounded FANTASTIC to me!  And nobody around me was complaining either!

The TOTAL surprise of the night was that she did two songs off the "T-N-T" album (Bob, Michael, Ron...eat your hearts out)!  Tanya did "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" and "Angel from Montgomery"!!!  They were totally AWESOME!!!  Here's the entire set list....except she asked for a request and I shouted out "Love Me Like You Used Too" and she did that one: Trouble, Another Woman, Oh What it Did To Me, Strong Enough to Bend, Brown Eyed Handsome Man, In the Ghetto, Angel from Montgomery, Lizzie, Last Tear Drop, Window Up Above, Two Sparrows, It's A Little Too Late and Delta Dawn.

Tanya's niece, Cali (LaCosta's daughter) did her chilling rendition of Patsy Cline's "Crazy".  Then Cali and Presley did brv for "Delta Dawn".  The the three of them came to the edge of the stage to shake hands with everybody, and yes, of course I made it to the edge of the stage! LMAO!  Layla wasn't there but her oldest nephew (Don's son) was and she  introduced him as well as Grayson.

During the concert Tanya did say her mom wasn't doing well, especially since her dad passed away last Thanksgiving, and that she will be having open heart surgery - so let's all keep her in our prayers!

There was no mention of the new cd or dvd.

After the concert, we took pictures with  Ralph and Linda.  (photos) Then we went out back to Tanya's bus and waited for her with quite a few of her fans.  Presley came out and posed for pics and signed autographs.  Jack and the band were loading the equipment on their bus -- Jack is such a cutie pie!!  I'm not sure how long we waited, but it was awhile, then Jack came out and told everybody Tanya had decided to go in the casino and gamble awhile and if he were us, he wouldn't wait for her.

Bobbie and Lisa had to get back to work the next day, so we headed back to Nashville.  But what a day it turned out to be, considering we went up there without tickets!!  Bobbie and Lisa, thank you both sooo much for letting us tag along and sharing your room with us.  You two are awesome!
