Author Topic:   What Memorabilia Wouls You like
Peter posted 12/29/07 10:28 AM     mailto:petercunningham@ntlworld.com
Guys,I was looking at some of the Tanya memorabilia I have gathered over the years yesterday, and I do have some pretty good stuff even if I say so myself. However there is one piece I would love to own and it is the belt with her name cut into it that she wore on the cover of her first album 'Tanya', I could be persuaded to trade anything I have for that, but I would expect the chances are non existent. I thought it would be good to hear what your favorite is....
Ron posted 12/29/07 4:48 PM     mailto:beauchane16@aol.com
Hi Peter.. That would be a COOL piece of memorabilia to own... the coolest that I have, I feel, is the framed Billboard ads for the albums, "Tear Me Apart", "Strong Enough To Bend" and "Girls Like Me".. they hang on a wall in my "office" room at home. I did acquire a standup cutout that was promoting "Tear Me Apart" when it was first released which i really, really like. As far as what other memorabilia I'd really like....hmmmmmm.. maybe the necklace with the Texas shaped pendant she wears on the cover of the "Girls Like Me" cover that one record reviewer for People Magazine said, "was about to dissappear into some pretty impressive cleavage".. LOL.. Happy New Year, Ron

Seriously, I just wanna talk...................UNTIL, the crown and coke kick in, the whahtever happens, happens......LMAO!
AL. Dee posted 12/30/07 5:20 AM
Hmmmmmm, I would like to go partying with her one night, where she was in disguise, wearing a wig and nobody recognized her, and she could just let loose and be herself....I think that would be the ultimate memorabilia!!!!!
Bob posted 12/31/07 1:00 AM
I'm With AL Dee and Michael. How fun would that be. I have a prett good collection of Tanya stuff. My favorite is the picture of her and me when I met her for the first time in 1980. However, I do love my life-size TNT and Black Velvet cut-outs. Her signing my tattoo I will never forget too.
Michael posted 12/31/07 1:03 AM
Yall having your tatoo's signed by T is a memory in it self....a life time memory!
Dennis posted 12/31/07 2:35 AM
I just got a copy of Rolling Stone Magazine with
Tanya on the cover (1974). That's definitely up
there. However, my favorite is still a signed album.
She had just finished riding the Locknest Monster at
Busch Gardens. I was so stunned that she signed
my album cover that I couldn't speak.
This may sound weird, but I know when I die I will
have several songs played at my funeral. My
friends will pay...I'm thinking...You are So Beautiful
and/or Smell The Flowers.
I would love to just go out and have dinner with
her. So glad others are crazy like me:)
Cindi posted 12/31/07 5:31 AM
OK, I do have my cherished share of memorabilia, but I cherish my Tanya Tucker doll collection. I also have every album that came out on vinyl signed and put in album frames and on one of the walls in my spare bedroom of which is called Tuckerville. I also have a full signed script, pics, and stage stats of the movie Hard Country. It was filmed in Bakersfield Ca. My Father, my ex-husband, and I were in the movie as well. That is a week that we spent with Tanya, Kim Basinger, and Jan-Michael Vincent. Tanya was sure a lot nicer than Kim was. What is truly strange is that the part of the movie filmed in the little house, belongs to my Brother-in-law.s He owned it then too but did not get to meet any of the stars.

Hi Everyone:
Next up the battle between the reigning champ "Can I See You Tonight?" and the newest challenger "Just Another Love".. as mentioned previously "Can I See You Tonight?" was a #4 smash of MCA's Dreamlovers. "Just Another Love" returned our girl to the #1 position and it was the second single from the "comeback" Girls Like Me album. Voting starts now and will end Wednesday evening, January 9, 2008. Please vote ONLY once. THANKS!!!!

Ron posted 1/4/08 0:34 AM     mailto:beauchane16@aol.com
Hi Everyone:
Happy Thursday from Northern California where we are experiencing the first of at least 2 or 3 monster storms. Friday promises 2-3 inches of rain with 40-50 MPH winds. While perusing the "G" group of songs I found four songs, only one of which was ever released as a single And looking a little farther ahead, I see that the "J" group only has two songs in it. So I have decided to list the "G" and "J" groups as one group. Voting begins now and will end Sunday evening, January 6, 2008. Thanks to all, Ron. Here are your choices to see which will then have the unenviable task of trying to unseat current champion "Can I See You Tonight?" as we trudge forward in our voting.
1. Girls Like Me
2. Greener Than The Grass We Laid on
3. Gonna Love You Anyway
4. Guess I'll Have To Love Him More
5. Just About Now
6. Just Another Love

two different songs for sure.... here are the lyrics for Just About Now (apparently Faith Hill recorded this one too) ..........
Just about now I'd be watching you wake up
Feeling my heart beat with yours
Just about now is when we would make love
Like all of the mornings before
But I know it don't help to turn the clock back
'Cause I'm not gonna make it til I face this face
This is not about trying to go back in time
This is not about where I'll be a year down the line
It's just moment to moment, surviving somehow
This is not about then, this is just about now
Just about now you'd pull in the driveway
And I'd be there waving hello
Run to my arms, you'd kiss me and hold me
As if you've never let go
And it's just about now when the tears start to fall
And I wonder if I'm gonna make it at all
This is not about trying to go back in time
This is not about where I'll be a year down the line
It's just moment to moment, surviving somehow
This is not about then, this is just about now

Happy New Year, Bebopp.... "Goin' Nowhere And Gettin' There Fast" is on one of the NASCAR CD's.. i don't have it so that is why it did not come up in my searches for "G" Songs.. Thanks to Bradley it now qualifies as a G song.. =)

I am pretty sure you can download it bebop..... go to realplayer..... it is actually a pretty good song. It was on a Nascar LP back in the 90s. I think it was an intro song for Nascar one year also. (If I remember correctly, Tanya was the only female artist to appear on that record). Ok, if I got anything wrong, somebody correct me.

Ok, all.... here we go... "Can I See You Tonight?", the reigning champ looks to make it four in a row. Again, this is a #4 hitin the early 80's from T's Dreamlovers album and has been a fan favorite for over 20 years... the competition is "Greener Than The Grass We Laid On".. this single i believe peaked a #18 and has a lot of support on here. Remember ONLY vote ONCE =).. Thanks to everyone. This fight starts now and will end Friday evening at 6:00 PM PST. I will make this the official time that voting ends whether or not I was officially at home to officially end it.. LOL.. Ya never know what a Friday night might bring.... OK, ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone:
FIRST and FOREMOST, THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT TOOK THE TIME TO VOTE.... The voting for this round has now ended. "Can I See You Tonight?" has once again defeated the competition. Congratulations to this GREAT HIT... "Greener Than The Grass {We Laid On) has nothing to be ashamed of. It performed very well.. besting "Just Another Love" and making a strong showing against the reigning champion.... "Can I See You Tonight?" can take a breather as we now vote on its next opponent from Group H. The voting for that group of songs continues in the thread I am fixing to now open. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, ALL. RON

I usually agree with Chet Flippo on 'stuff' country music related and I agree with most of this article as well. (check it out on TT on the net). Chet talked about how some of the legends (Dolly, Tanya, Loretta, Tammy, Patsy) made it to the top. He also accurately stated that all of the legends had one very important thing in common: a unique voice. Just thought it was odd for Chet to draw all of these parallels and then make the point that the legends ALL had a unique voice.... and Taylor definitely does not. At any rate, Tanya was included in some very good company... hall of fame company actually.

I read the article and thought to myself....HUMMMM, Taylor Swift??? There is nothing "Unique" about her voice, what-so-ever. When you hear Tanya on the Radio, you know who it is without a doubt as well as Loretta, Tammy, and Dolly. Taylor S. to me, sounds like some Disney Cartoon Character that wears prom dresses and little sparkle trinkets on her cheekbones. Yep, she is a beautiful young lady so, maybe modeling might be a better choice and mostly, I think she will be a flash in the pan...MHO of coarse.
Ron posted 1/11/08 4:03 AM     mailto:beauchane16@aol.com
i just downloaded Taylor Swifts "Teardrops On My Guitar" last night.. i have never heard it before but was using some Christmas ITUNES gift cards.. it was pleasant enough. but not worth more than two or three listens.. i agree.. she is not that great..... she made a wise choice by choosing a song called "Tim McGraw" as her first single and most sales probably came from Tim McGraw's fans.. i feel the time has pretty much passed for anyone to have any longevity in music as in days gone by.. even Tanya's comment in here interview saying Gretchen Wilson will probably be in it for the long haul won't come true. Isn't Gretchen already a victim of the sophomore jinx?
Bob posted 1/12/08 11:21 PM
Junior Jinx too. 3rd album wasn't that great. I think the Muzik Mafia has had its day. Taylor Swift. Sweet voice, couple of sweet tunes...Nothing memorable. I agree...The legends. All have voices that make you know who they a
