Tanya Sounding Better Than Ever!

Naples is a beachtown on the Southwest Gulf-coast of Florida with a heavy population of retirees living in condos.  Not too many rednecks, cowboys or cowgirls in attendance - but it was a full house of Tanya fans of the somewhat sedate variety.

Tanya started off with "Trouble" and sang her normal batch of songs with her regular band minus Ollie the guitar/fiddle player.

Tanya told us she competed in a cutting competition last weekend in Georgia where she  took second place -- said she would have won first place if she hadn't picked up her hand.  Tanya also fussed about the horrors of Atlanta's airport (oh yeah) and said traveling in the back of the bus was just fine!

Tanya also talked about getting into town a day early to get in some shopping -- and let us know the outfit she had on was bought at a shop in Naples.  Tanya said she plays for free sometimes (due to shopping),  especially in Vegas.

For the medley of 70s hits they brought out a stool and Tanya joked about her pants being too tight to actually sit on the stool.  Apparently she wasn't kidding, cause she never did really sit.  As usual, Tanya blew us away with that medley -- at one point during "Field of Stone" I know you could have heard a pin drop.  Everybody was in awe, it was that good.

Layla came out briefly for "What's Your Mama's Name" gave mom a hug and took off.  Tanya talked about how much her kids mean to her and explained what special meaning the song "Riding Rainbows" holds for her.  Tanya was absolutely amazing on this song -- she sang it live better than the recorded version.

Tanya rocked out to one of her best concert songs, "It's A Little Too Late" and received a very well deserved "O" for Delta Dawn and stayed on stage afterward to sign autographs.  I heard one of the regulars say something like "Wow! Nobody signs autographs like that."

I thought Tanya sounded really good on the Billy Bob's Texas Live CD,  but I think she sounded even better on this night.  She is truly singing better than ever - unbelievable!
