Concert and Book Review:  Border's Books, Vegas; Star of The Desert Arena, Primm NV; Walmart, Santa Clarita; Laughlin NV

4-7-05

Well, I have been asked to give some reviews of the shows and signings that I just went to. I am not that great but will try.

Friday nite at Borders in Vegas. Roger K. and his wife were with me, so we went inside a little early to purchase the book and then sat in the coffee shop to review it. They did have some flyers, and I totally got my share of them thinking of YOU guys. lol

Tanya showed up promptly dressed in denim and looked great. They had a nice set up for her. The line was quite long by the time Tanya got there. She had signed everyone in about an hour. We did get to visit for a while and do the autograph and photo thing. She was really on an upbeat. Fans were bringing all kinds of goodies, including her book. She was so happy to do it.

I did meet a friend of  Tanya's  that looks like a short Tim McGraw. He and his family were present. He is from Nashville but doing an imitation of Tim McGraw at the Stratosphere in Vegas. Very nice guy and does his own singing. Real nice guy. He gave me tix to his show. He is also with Shania, Dwight, Reba and Patsy Cline. I will be going back the end of the month to see the show.

After some of the fans went thru the line more than once, they had gotten their autographs and pics so they were gone. Lots of happy fans. Then T was on her way to her hotel.

The next night was Saturday and we had a concert at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm Nv. at Buffalo Bill's. I had seen her there last year as well. I was lucky enough to get us front row seats and the show was awesome. They did have security directly in front of the stage about every 4 feet. I thought, cool, people won't be coming up to the stage blocking our view.
Well, she came out a singing "trouble" and looking fantastic. The band looked fresh and perky as well. Believe it or not she was not on Tucker time either. She started right on time.

Tanya sang for about 90 minutes. I don't remember the song line up but it was all so awesome. Tanya was talking about her mentor Loretta Lynn and imitating her talking to her husband Doo. She did a great job, and then she said something about her band and said that she had some imitators. The keyboard player named Rob did Ray Charles soooo goood that the crowd gave him a standing ovation. TT was so thrilled. He did a great job, even showing his teeth, swaying back and forth and also wearing his dark glasses. It totally gave us all goose bumps.  Then  Jay the bass player did Barney Pfife, aka Don Knotts. I never laughed soo hard in my life. He got a big applause as well. This is a guy that seems real cool and quiet. He wasn't this nite.

I had never seen the imitators but it was really cool. I heard nothing but great reviews of this show. People loved it. Then as soon as Tanya started Delta Dawn the fans started coming to the stage and if you wanted to see anything you had to stand. I was not happy with the security as they should have made them all sit down.

Then on Tuesday, we went to Walmart in Santa Clarita. Tanya was about 20 minutes late but found out it was a radio station holding her up outside. Walmart did have a great display of Dr Pepper formed to a large guitar. It made the mens department look real country. There were quite a few people lined up for autographs. Walmart stated that they would only let you have her sign the book after you bought it from them. You were not allowed to bring in anything else to sign. (that's what they thought) haha. There was a lady in front of me that had a black and white photo of  T and her 2 kids from 1975. She worked for Universal Studios at that time. She wanted it signed sooo bad and they told her no. I felt bad for her, so I told her to wait until she got up to the table and show it to her. Then Tanya would see it and sign it. She did just that and TT was tickled to see it. The pic was in perfect shape. T signed it and the lady was so happy. She made it a point to personally thank me for a memory that she will never forget. When I told her what to do, she seemed apprehensive about it and I told her, "What are they gonna do, throw you outta here!" It made me feel good knowing that she got it signed. When the last person was finished, Walmart employees started to line up and get things signed. Then they started tearing down the table and display.
Tanya did a little shopping and then left for the night.

Laughlin Nevada, Saturday nite outside venue and black skies. As soon as I entered the gate it started to sprinkle real hard. The crew started to cover the speakers with plastic. I did see a few umbrellas but mostly plastic pieces on top of heads. But as soon as we sat down on a wet seat it seemed to have stopped. We were sooo lucky. But about 20 minutes after Tanya was supposed to show she did and it had stopped sprinkling. Thank goodness.
The show was so good again. I kept hoping that T  would let the guys do their imitations but she never did. She did dedicate Two Sparrows to Bill and I. She told Bill that she was hoping that he was feeling better. He was there for that show. He was embarrassed that she said that. I was happy for him. The show again lasted about 90 minutes with Delta Dawn being the big hit of the nite. She did say that she will be on tv in the near future but couldn't say why. She did say that some will be good and some will be not so good.

Sooo, I hope that this helps you all as far as a review goes.
